I went to Catholic school for 9 years (K-8). My family wasn’t particularly religious but the promise of a free private education in exchange for a few baptisms was hard to pass up. I remember being told we were actually consuming the body of Christ at our first communion in the 3rd grade.
I also remember my older brother making my lunch and trying his best to make a bánh mì using wonder bread, processed lunch meat, cilantro, and Maggi seasoning. This was late 1970s Florida. This is a portrait of Jesus made out of bread and Maggi.
